[Morally reductive in all respects; testament books
The venerable father Peter Berthorius Pictauentis, instituter (as they say) of the religion of God Benedict, and not only an excellent professor of literature, a remarkable work, which is inscribed in Morale Reductorius, summarized in four and thirty books accurately chastened, each (as the matter requires) in the most distinct chapters: where the history is known of dignities, and of the figures of the old and new testaments, the premisses of the summary of the text, Tropological, or Allegorical, at least; Anagogical commentary is sometimes attached, with the addition of Bible Concordances.
Added to these was a very rich Repertory, in which the principal sentences of the whole work were carefully collected in alphabetical order.
The author's life is also explained in a few excerpts from the writings of Trithemius on the next page]
By Petrus Berthorius (Pierre Bersuire)
Pierre Bersuire (c. 1290–1362), also known as Pierre Bercheure and Pierre Berchoire (in Latin, Petrus Berchorius or Petrus Bercorius), was a French author of the Middle Ages. A Benedictine, he was a translator, encyclopaedist, and the author of several works, including the Ovidius Moralizatus (not to be confused with the Ovide Moralisé) (1340), a work of mythography. The Gesta Romanorum, a Latin collection of anecdotes and tales, is sometimes attributed to him.
