1619 1st Edition 1st Printing, Fold Out
OPERA OMNIA QUAE EXTANT, GRAECÈ & LATINÈ
The most recent edition of all that has come before, most ornately added a brief and permanent Commentary on all Aristotle's books, or Synopsis Analytica Doctrine Peripateticæ, not previously seen; in which, as in a more expedient table, Aristotle's entire Philosophy, as described in its order, is clearly and briefly indicated, and expounded for the dignity of things.
Author: William DV VAL Pontesian, Professor of Greek and Latin Philosophy at the Royal Academy of Paris, and Doctor of Medicine: who, in addition to that laborious Synopsis, added an Anthology of Anatomy from the knowledge of Hippocrates and Galen, to Aristotle's books on history, generation, and parts of animals; and furthermore added and illustrated the fourteen books of the Divine Philosophy or Metaphysics, with notes and arguments, and restored the last four, which were still badly arranged, to their proper order.
Three indexes close and, as it were, sign off the bulk of the work. The first, as it were, lists the names of even younger authors who illustrated Aristotle's Philosophy with their writings. The second distinguishes the cares and commentaries of each. The third is a rich Thesaurus.
