AMONG THE MYSTICS
By William Fairweather
Synopsis: This book does not claim to be a complete treatment of mysticism, either historical, philosophical, expository or critical. While none of these aspects has been ignored, the main object has been to set down the results of some studies relating to a subject which, in spite of the increasing attention being devoted to it in the present century, particularly since the Great War, cannot yet be said to have come to its own in our theological literature. These pages were written from the point of view that mysticism is not confined to Christianity, but is a feature in other religions as well. That a wider knowledge of mysticism is a desideratum of the present day can scarcely be questioned. The main concern of the mystic is avowedly prayer and contemplation.
