1741 12th Edition
AN EXPOSITION OF THE CREED
By John, Lord Bishop of Chester
By John Pearson

Author Bio: John Pearson (28 February 1613 – 16 July 1686) was an English theologian and scholar.

Provenance: Early ownership inscription of George Turner, dated 1741, with a possible price note. The front endpaper also carries a contemporary manuscript quotation praising Pearson’s Exposition of the Creed, attributed to Burnet.

Later Lincolnshire provenance is suggested by struck-through inscriptions reading “Smith” and “Horbling,” followed by manuscript and stamped ownership marks for W. H. Tyler, High Street, Billingboro, likely Billingborough, near Horbling. This suggests local circulation in the Billingborough/Horbling area.

Synopsis: An Exposition of the Creed By John [Pearson], Lord Bishop of Chester The Twelfth Edition Revised and Corrected which was first published in 1659. It was based on sermons he delivered at St Clement's, Eastcheap. It was one of the most influential works on the Apostles' Creed in the Anglican Church.

Format: Hardcover, folio (fo 12 × 19 in 305 × 483 mm )
Note: Binding/size selection follows standard bibliographic conventions and is approximate; exact measurements may vary.
