Three complementary books forming the most important reference work for 17th- and 18th-century Syriac studies.
Puntis Vocalibus animatum cum LEXICO & Institutio nibus L. Syriacae Accedunt NOTAE difficiliora N.T. loca explicantes
SS.TH. D. & Prof P.
Cum Priviegiis Anno 1663

First edition of by far the best edition of the Syriac New Testament published before the 19th-century, edited by Aegidius Gutbier, which remained the standard Syriac text until Samuel Lee's 1823 edition. For the first book (the gospel of Matthew) it includes Gutbier's Latin translation of the Syriac at the foot of the page. The Syriac text provides valuable clues to the original Aramaic sources of the New Testament.

AUTHOR BIO
Authore Aegidio Gutbirio [1617 - 1667] Doctor of Theology by the University of Giessen. He was one of the most important and most learned orientalists of his time. He set up a printing shop in his own house, which existed from 1664-67 and had the types for the translation of the New Testament into Syrian made at great expense and printed in his own printing shop (Novum Jesu Christi Testamentum Syriace cum punctis, vocalibus et versione latina Matthaei” , 1663—1664), which caused him many inconveniences. The edition of the New Testament includes his Lexicon Syriacum, continens omnes NT Syriaci dictiones et particulas, 1667; and "Notae criticae in NT Syriacum", 1667.
