2004 1st Edtn COMPLETE UK HARRY POTTER ADULT-COVER HARDBACK SET By J.K. Rowling
2004 1st Edition
COMPLETE UK HARRY POTTER ADULT-COVER HARDBACK SET
A complete and visually striking set of J. K. Rowling’s seven Harry Potter novels in the Bloomsbury photographic adult-cover hardback editions, with first impressions throughout.
The sequence began with the adult issue of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 2003. Bloomsbury followed in 2004 with newly designed matching editions of the first four novels, replacing the earlier adult-cover designs. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows completed the series in 2005 and 2007.
The first four volumes each state “This edition first published in 2004” and carry the complete printer’s number line:
1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2
confirming first impressions of these redesigned adult editions. The final three volumes each carry the appropriate Bloomsbury first-edition statement.
All seven books retain their original photographic adult dust jackets. Each jacket is unclipped and housed in a removable clear protective sleeve. An attractive and increasingly collectible complete set, particularly desirable in the matching first-impression configuration.
By J.K. Rowling
Format: Hardcover, Octavo (Standard) (8vo 6 × 9 in 152 × 229 mm )
Note: Binding/size selection follows standard bibliographic conventions and is approximate; exact measurements may vary.
Language: English
Published By: Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, London
Condition Report:
Dust Jacket: Yes, Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good
Very Good - A sound and attractive complete set in the publisher’s black hardback bindings, lettered in gilt to the spines, with the original photographic adult-edition dust jackets.
All seven dust jackets are unclipped and are housed in removable clear protective sleeves. The jackets display light shelf wear, rubbing and minor creasing at some edges and spine ends, consistent with careful handling and storage. The photographic designs, lettering and principal images remain clear and present well as a uniform set.
The bindings remain sound and the contents are generally clean and legible throughout. No foxing or undesirable odour is present. Some binder’s glue discolouration is visible at the internal hinge of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This is an ageing characteristic of the binding adhesive and is not foxing, damp staining or mould.
A presentable and collectible first-impression set, with the inevitable minor signs of handling associated with books of this age but without serious condition defects.
